Ahead of the release of World of Warcraft Classic in August, Blizzard has now confirmed that there will be a local server for Australia and other parts of the Oceanic region, which is big news. Nature Oceanic will be available for players in Australia, New Zealand and other parts of Southeast Asia. The server is physically located in Australia, and will be available at launch on 27 August. The specific names of the servers will be aounced soon, coming shortly before ordering character names starting on August 13.
Blizzard has also confirmed that the final stress test for WoW Classic will be held July 26 and 27. This test is global, and the aim is to give Blizzard one more chance to test the game on a scale before public release. The WoW Classic version available in the test period displays a number of improvements and changes; Blizzard said testers had submitted around 17,000 bug reports from the closed beta. The closed beta ended on July 13.
Hosted in Australia, Oceanic servers will be available from launch, 27 August. Starting August 13, Blizzard will make Oceanic names known so users can take advantage of ordering names. World of Warcraft Classic is currently in beta and stress testing, the latest concluding on 27 July. This game will be launched on PC on August 27th.
This is definitely good news for those who want to run WoW Classic next month, but it's also a little bitter-sweet because low ping will no doubt bring a different experience. Where we all can't complain about the lack of a local server, try to find out where the domains are going to join - and then beg Blizzard to add the local domain.
